Scivation’s Xtend is the very first intra-workout/BCAA supplement I used, and easily one of the most popular branch chain amino acid supplements. Personally, I think it still holds up well over the years and has some excellent ingredients.

BCAA’s For Better Muscle Growth

Branch chain amino acids are the first supplement I recommend when people ask me what they should be taking in addition to whey protein. BCAA’s help to improve muscle growth and recovery through enhanced protein synthesis, which allows you to get more amino acids into muscle cells.

Supplying your muscles with additional BCAA’s during a workout also provides more energy, boosting both strength and endurance.

One of the first things worth mentioning is that Xtend features a 2:1:1 ratio of its branch chain amino acids. This is important because that’s the ratio most commonly recommended by experts and used in several BCAA studies.

This nice thing about Xtend is it also features the amino acid citrulline, which improves helps you get a better pump by increasing nitric oxide production.

As far as taste goes, Xtend is one of the best tasting amino acid I’ve tried. This is especially important for me since I work out first thing in the morning, and my stomach is pretty sensitive to what I drink during my workout.

This is a pretty straight forward supplement, doesn’t have any fillers and helps to grind out those longer workouts.

Final Thoughts On Xtend

Xtend is an excellent BCAA supplement. The label lists specific ingredient amounts, and like I mentioned above, it’s hard to beat the taste. Definitely give it a try if you’ve been struggling to find a decent tasting intra-workout supplement.
