When I first heard the name Secret Sauce, I thought it sounded more like something you’d take before playing basketball against the Monstars than a post-workout supplement. But if you’ve seen the new bodybuilding documentary Generation Iron, you probably remember Kai Greene mention he uses it for recovery.

There are some pretty interesting ingredients in here, which MuscleMeds appears to be leveraging in order to establish a bigger presence in the supplement industry. So how does Secret Sauce purportedly boost recovery? Let’s take a look.

Spike Your Growth

One of the ways to improve recovery is by spiking your insulin levels with simple sugars post-workout. This enhances muscle growth and recovery by boosting protein synthesis and driving amino acids into muscle cells.
Secret Sauce Reviews
Secret Sauce contains something called iSpike technology which essentially consists of maltodextrin, waxy maize, and chromium to help replenish glycogen stores and spike insulin levels. Maltodextrin is absorbed about as quickly as glucose, and chromium helps with carbohydrate storage.

Waxy maize is a high molecular weight carbohydrate which the body absorbs immediately for energy.

Getting Buff From Bovine

Secret Sauce’s formula also contains something called bovine serum albumin (BSA), which MuscleMeds insists plays an important role in muscle growth. This compound is a bioactive protein derived from bovine blood plasma.

BSA does contain a number of growth factors, and studies support it as being effective for improving hypertrophy in skeletal muscle.[1]

Creatine and BCAA Combo

You’re also going to get some extra branch chain amino acids (BCAA’s) and a creatine complex with creatine monohydrate, magnesium creatine chelate, and creatine gluconate.

The BCAA’s will further enhance protein synthesis, and aid in the growth and repair of muscle. Creatine increases strength, endurance, and also improves overall body composition.[2]

Trying The Secret Sauce

It’s difficult to say to what extent the bovine serum albumin helped actual muscle growth, but did I feel like I had more strength during my workouts and wasn’t as sore as usual while taking Secret Sauce. It has a sweet flavor thanks the carbohydrates in here, and I didn’t think the fruit punch flavor was bad at all.

Most online retailers are selling Secret Sauce for about $34-45. You might also be able to find it on sale at a special introductory price since it is a new supplement.

Secret Sauce In Summary

You’re still going to need to take a whey protein in addition to Secret Sauce for a complete post-workout recovery, but there are a lot of good ingredients in it which help improve muscle growth and recovery.

Secret Sauce is definitely worth trying if you’re looking for a way to reduce soreness and enhance your recovery.
