Not unlike Katy Perry, you’re gonna hear Rich Piana roar.

Recently, he left Mutant with aspirations to launch his own supplement line. His new pre-workout is called Kill It, and is one of two new products he’s revealed under his brand 5% Nutrition.

Are You a 5 Percenter?

If you’ve ever seen a Rich Piana video, you know he personifies hashtag real-talk. He talks about the 5% lifestyle in this video, where he specifies the lifestyle as being willing to do whatever it takes to reach your goals.

He doesn’t believe in selling weight gainers or other protein powders, so it will be interesting to see what other products he adds to the 5% Nutrition line. We know there’s at least one new product in the pipeline from the blank “coming soon” photo on his website next to Kill It and ALLDAYOUMAY.

But for now, here’s what you can expect form the pre-workout Kill It.

Energy to Kill It

At first glance I noticed Kill It has some pretty decent pump ingredients. The combination of agmatine (750 mg), citrulline (3 g), and norvaline (100 mg) is pretty formidable. These are effective dosages, and I’ve definitely noticed a difference in the pre-workouts I take that have norvaline in them.

Although agmatine is a potent nitric oxide booster and better absorbed than arginine, the norvaline is going to enhance both agmatine and citrulline absorption by blocking the arginase enzyme that degrades them.

You’ll also going to get Carnosyn beta alanine to help fight muscle fatigue and increase endurance, and ingredients like tyrosine to boost focus and concentration.

There’s also 250 mg of caffeine, which is around the sweet spot for a pre-workout. I’ve seen a lot of pre-workouts inundated with up to 400 mg of caffeine in a single serving.

With this amount of caffeine, a scoop and a half gives you the added benefit of extra norvaline and agmatine, but still keeps the caffeine content around 375 mg.

My Experience With Kill It

I actually had a solid pump after my first set. In the interest of full disclosure I should mention that my body responds really well to the agmatine/norvaline combination.

Overall I had an excellent workout with Kill It, and was able to maintain that elevated pump-strength throughout my workout.

It mixes about as well as any other pre-workout I’ve tried. There were a few floating bits of powder near the bottom of my shaker cup, but nothing that you wouldn’t expect from a pre-workout.

As I noted in my ALLDAYOUMAY review which has a similar fruit punch flavor, there’s nothing exciting about the taste. To be clear it’s not bad by any means, it’s just an average fruit punch flavor, and a very drinkable pre-workout.

Killing Your Workout With Kill It

Kill It is a solid value on par with Piana’s other supplement ALLDAYOUMAY. Each container holds 30 servings, and they both only cost about $1 per serving. What’s more, I would definitely recommend Kill It for your next workout.

As I mentioned above it hits the sweet spot for caffeine in my opinion─ 250 mg, and has effective ingredients like agmatine, citrulline and norvaline. When all is said and done, Kill It gives you a good pump at a good value.
